§ Initiate Registration Grant Monies (aka Iota Candidate Fund)
Discussion Points included:

"Motion" to allocate $20 a candidate
[editor' interjection: We canned "Robert's Rules" at the organizational meeting. There are no motions here!]
There are 9 candidates = $180.00
"Motion" to close the floor
[editor' interjection: what part of no "Robert's Rules" did you not get? Oh wait...these minutes weren't posted before the meeting...silly esp-less secretary...]

§ Social Activities
Discussion Points included:

Doing stuff in the Fall is difficult
Do we want to try to schedule something with the chapter?
Whirlyballing has been discussed previously
Jessi wants to have a dinner party at her (and Brian's) new place when she gets back
Let's do a party if we don't go to a Bowl Game
[editor' note: We're Bowl elligible now, but...]
Maybe a Holiday party?
What's the active's schedule?

Last Chapter Meeting - December 1st
Band Banquet - November 30th

If we want any actives there, we should look to January
We could get more alumns (local ones) in December
Holiday party for Alumns in December, Whirlyball in January, and a Casino night or something in December?
How about a picnic at Stone Mountain Park?

§ Service Activities
Discussion Points included:

Dr. Frank Clark (Director of Music Department) want us involved and will let is know when it comes time to move sh...stuff back into and around Couch
How about a Junior Scholarship?

There used to be one for those really good at playing (Outstanding Performance)
It was never really all that much money
It was awarded by the Directors
Open it to any student enrolled in a band class?
We'd have to get nominations from the Directors
What do we have in the Spring at which we could give the award? Spring Concert?
Perhaps not a cash award, but a certificate or something?
One for each ensemble?
Or perhaps something music related: a stand, a tuner, [talent?]
Jessi volunteers to come up with a proposal for it (due 12/22)

Coffee Table Book on the History of the GT Band?

Other schools have done it
Have it doen for the Centennial in 2008?
Tack it onto the 5-Year Plan [what 5-year plan?]
[editor's note: Contact Marilyn Somers at the GT Alumni Associaation for assistance here. She runs the Oral History Department/Program over there and has lots of catalogued and indexed Videotaped Interviews. She also has access to the GT Archives.]

§ Fundraising
Discussion Points included:

Baseball gigs?
We've talked about doing some concessions stands on days the chapter can't get enough folks
Baseball gigs will start sometime in February
If we can get enough alumni to work 1 or 2 games, that might cover entire Initiation Fees
Minimum amount raised is $200/game/booth or a percentage of the sales whichever is greater
Requires 6-7 people per booth
We'd have to do evening games
What about Basketball gigs? There might be a greater need from the chapter for these.
If there are dates that the band/chapter is positive it can't make, it'd be good to know now
Priscilla will talk with the actives fundraising chair for specifics
We could always split gigs & funds with the chapter if they run short

§ Ritual Workshop
Discussion Points included:

Ritual or other subjects (history of the chapter for instance)
We should do one, perhaps on the ritual for the neophytes
Perhaps walk them through it with additional insights
Shoot for January
Further dicussion at the monthly gathering on Tuesday

§ Recruiting
Discussion Points included:

The IAA could do a presentation at the last actives meeting each semester
This would help recruiting by telling them that we're here
We could call local alumni to personnally invite them to the dinner meetings
We could attend the first actives meeting each semester to invite them to the dinner meetings
We can ask the actives to give us ideas on what they want us to do
[we were created to help them help themselves afterall...]
We could create a nice invitation for all graduating seniors inviting them to join
We could make a by-law suggesting that the Vice President be a recent graduate to provide better familiarity with the chapter
We could attend another chapter meeting toward the end of each semester
[can you get typing deja vu?]
Do we have contact info for the alumni?
[no...we only have a database full of alumni addresses and telephone numbers...]
Calling local alumnsi isn't exactly easy
[hello...voice mail...]
There are about 40 people on the Iotaa header
There is also the forums.gtbaa.org site
We just need to make the path to becoming an involved alum easier
There are 2 or 3 graduating seniors this semester
There's a bunch graduating in the Spring though
Fireball will print up some membership forms with their names on them
