The proposed changes to the By-Laws of the Iota Alumni Association are shown below.

The constitution of the National Alumni Association will serve as the constitution for the Iota Alumni Association. The Iota Alumni Association proposes the following bylaws for the purposes of self governing as best suits the purposes and goals of Iota Alumni Association. They have been structured to allow the Iota Alumni Association of Kappa Kappa Psi to be recognized nationally while still functioning within the National Alumni Association of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma.
The general control and administration of the Iota Alumni Association of Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma Sorority hereinafter designated as the local association, shall be vested in local association officers.
The Local Association officers will form a Board of Directors hereinafter referred to as the Board. The Board shall include Officer 1, Officer 2, Officer 3, Board Member 4, and Board Member 5. These officers shall also be known as President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Board Member, and Board Member. Additional Officers shall be added as deemed necessary by the Local Association.
Officer 1 (President) shall serve as a liaison between the Local Association and the National Alumni Association. S/he shall be the presiding officer at all Local Association meetings, shall have general and active management of the business of the Local Association, and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Association and the Board are put into effect. S/he shall ensure that all current members are notified of all meetings of the Local Association.
Officer 2 (Vice President) shall preside at Association meetings in the absence of Officer 1. S/he shall be charged with maintaining and pursuing an increased level of Local Association membership.
Officer 3 (Secretary/Treasurer) shall ensure that all current members are notified of all
meetings of the Local Association and the Board. S/he shall record, publish,
and distribute minutes of all Local Association and Board meetings. S/he shall also maintain complete
and accurate financial records for the Local Association and the Board. All expenditures shall be made
by check drawn on a bank selected by the Board and signed by Officer 3 and Officer 1.
Each officer shall serve a two-year term without compensation. Officer elections shall be held every even numbered year. At Large Board Members shall be elected held every odd numbered year. At Large Board Members may resign from their position to run for an Officer position. Any resulting At Large Board Member vacancies will be filled at the conclusion of Officer elections and the elected member shall serve a one-year term.
Only current members of the Association shall be eligible to be nominated and/or serve as a member of the Board.
Membership in this Local Association shall be open to any member of the National Alumni Association.
Any qualified applicant shall be allowed membership in this Local Association, regardless of his/her place of residence, his/her Fraternity or Sorority affiliation, or the school from which he/she graduated.
Membership dues to the National Alumni Association shall be paid prior to or concurrent with obtaining membership in the Local Association. At such time annual membership dues shall be paid to the Local Association.
The fiscal year of the Local Association shall begin on July 1.
The financial policies of the Local Association shall be governed by a budget adopted by a majority of the members present at the annual Local Association meetings. In the absense of an annual meeting, operating expenses may be allocated on a temporary basis at the discretion of the Board until a meeting of the Association is held.
The Local Association annual membership fees shall be set by the Board with majority approval from the members present at the annual Local Association meetings.
All funds received in payment of membership fees, private donation, or by any other means shall be used as the operating funds of the Local Association, unless otherwise specified.
A financial report of the Local Association shall be prepared at the end of each fiscal year, and shall be reviewed by the Board at the annual Local Association meetings.
Funds will be distributed upon approval of the Board.
The National Headquarters will not be responsible for the Local Association monies, except as applicable to the collection of National Alumni Association Dues.
The Local Association shall meet at least once each year. The current membership of the Local Association must be notified of the meeting no less than thirty days in advance.
Special meetings of the Local Association may be called at any time by Officer 1, upon written request of a majority of the Board, or upon written request of at least fifty percent of the members of the Local Association. The current membership must be notified of special meetings at least thirty days in advance.
Twenty-five percent of the current membership of the Local Association including four directors
board members shall constitute a quorum at the meetings of the Local Association.
All current members who have paid their dues no less than fifteen days prior to
a the start of a meeting are eligible to vote.
Each Local Association member is encouraged to attend district and national conventions.
The Local Association will maintain traditions of the National Organizations. The Rituals will remain the right of the National Organizations and shall not be performed by the Local Associations.
The Local Association has the right to create suitable ceremonies for its own separate use which do not in any way conflict or incorporate aspects of the National Organizations Rituals. These separate ceremonies must be approved by 3/4 vote of the Local Association members present at a meeting.
The Local Association expressly prohibits discrimination by any component part of the Local Association or by any person acting on behalf of the Local Association on the basis of race, national origin, gender, religion, handicap, age, sexual orientation, marital status, or veteran status. The goal of the Association is to foster a spirit of mutual understanding and respect among all people, especially those involved with college and university bands, remembering that music is the universal language.
The Local Association is not responsible for actions (commonly referred to as hazing) by members of the Local Association or members of local active chapters which may result in injury to persons or damage to property.
The Local Association expressly forbids any act of hazing. Hazing is defined as any actions taken or situation created, intentionally or unintentionally, to produce mental or physical discomfort on or off campus involving members and/or prospective members, which may cause embarrassment, harassment, and/or ridicule.
Members of the Association will adhere to the alcohol and controlled substance policy of the National Organizations, at any event where active members of the Fraternity and/or Sorority are present. Keeping in mind that the activities of the alumni reflect upon the National Organizations and the Association, it is the duty of the alumni to behave responsibly at all Association activities.
